Requirements and Procedures


Undergraduate Admissions

All new students seeking admission to TWU must submit:

  • a completed application form
  • an application fee
  • official transcript(s)
  • THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment) test scores

To obtain acceptance into the undergraduate program for Teacher Certification, you must have:

(All criteria required before taking EDUC 3003/3001)

  • Completion of EDUC 2003 (C or better) or concurrent enrollment in EDUC 2003/3003/3001
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • TASP/THEA Scores:  Reading 260, Math 240, Writing 240 OR
    Accuplacer Scores:  Reading 80, Math 65, Writing 82/6 OR
    ACT Scores: Verbal 19, Math 19, Composite 23; OR SAT Scores: Verbal 500, Math 500, Composite 1070
    (ACT and SAT scores cannot be more than five years old)
  • Successful completion of SPCH 1013 or other course approved to meet Oral Communication competency
  • Signed application for admission to the Teacher Education Program

    Graduate Admissions

    Master of Arts in Teaching

    Procedures and requirements are as follows:

    • Submit a TWU graduate application and $30 application fee ($50 for international students).
    • Submit official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework.
    • Achieve at least a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 hours chronologically.
    • Achieve at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on all undergraduate and graduate coursework.
    • Submit THEA scores of 260 or above in Reading and 240 or above in Math and Writing, or Accuplacer scores of 80 in Reading, 65 in Math and 82/6 in Writing.

The Student Council for Exceptional Children at TWU received the state super chapter award given by the Texas Council for Exceptional Children outstanding chapter for 2007.  This makes five years in a row the chapter at TWU has received this outstanding award.

Dr. Joyce Rademacher received The Center for Research on Learning Leadership Award from Kansas University on July 17, 2008,  in Kansas City.
