Spring Fling/Golf Cart Parade – Wednesday, April 17, 2013
Spring Fling is a subsequent event following Septemberfest that occurs during the spring semester. It is also a time-honored outdoor festival, held during Homecoming Week at TWU. It offers a variety of attractions, activities, and free food for TWU students, faculty, and staff. CAB and House collaborate on this event to promote school pride, student engagement, diversity and co-curricular involvement.
A highlight of Spring Fling is the Golf-Cart Parade Kick-off, sponsored by the House of Representatives. Where other universities utilize and decorate floats as a part of their parade, we use Golf Carts instead. Spring Fling also incorporates a running theme throughout the event. Student Organizations and TWU departments are allowed to participate in the golf cart parade. However they must attend mandatory Golf Cart Operating Policies Workshop Trainings sponsored by the HOR in order to be eligible to participate. Golf carts must be decorated according to the designated theme of Spring Fling. Trainings are held once a month leading up to the day of the event. Golf carts are also judged by a select group of TWU faculty and staff based on the following categories: Best Use of theme; Biggest Participation; Best Organization; Best Department and Best Overall.
