Student Life Award Descriptions 2013

Unsung Hero

Eligibility: Any staff member within the Division, excluding Director level and above

This award recognizes a Student Life staff member who performs their role exceptionally well while working largely behind the scenes. This individual provides quality service within their office as well as outside of their unit. The result of this individual’s contribution is a positive impact on his/her department, the Division of Student Life, and TWU. Please specify the personal qualities, special efforts, and positive outcomes this individual has demonstrated to deserve the nomination and assist the committee in determining the winners. Multiple winners may be selected.

2012 Recipients: Lisa Valle, Febe Moss, Chuck Thetford, Dr. Linda Louden and Joyce Edmundson

Outstanding Professional- More than 2 years

Eligibility: Any staff member within the Division, (excluding Director level and above)

This award recognizes a staff person within the Division of Student Life who has not only excelled within his/her own department, but who has also contributed in a significant way to the Division of Student Life. This individual demonstrates commitment not only to the University, but also to fostering their growth in order to better serve others. Please specify the personal qualities, special efforts, and positive outcomes this individual has demonstrated to deserve the nomination and assist the committee in determining the winners. Multiple winners may be selected. 

2012 Recipients: Kim McFarland and Dr. Carmen Cruz 

Outstanding Professional- Less than 2 years

Eligibility: Any staff member within the Division, (excluding Director level and above)

This award recognizes a staff person within the Division of Student Life who has not only excelled within his/her own department, but who has also contributed in a significant way to the Division of Student Life. This individual demonstrates commitment not only to the University, but also to fostering their growth in order to better serve others. Please specify the personal qualities, special efforts, and positive outcomes this individual has demonstrated to deserve the nomination and assist the committee in determining the winners. Outstanding Director

Eligibility: Director level only

This award recognizes a Student Life Director who has significantly contributed to an environment which enhances TWU applicant, current student and/or staff development. The award honors outstanding service beyond the standard expectations of his/her position. Please specify the personal qualities, special efforts, and positive outcomes this individual has demonstrated to deserve the nomination and assist the committee in determining the winner. One winner will be selected.

2012 Recipient: Amy O'Keefe

Student Life Advocate

Eligibility: Any member or department outside of the Division of Student Life

This award recognizes a TWU individual, TWU team, or other TWU office or non-TWU office/personnel outside of the Division of Student Life that has enhanced, supported, and contributed to the success of student development and persistence at TWU. The selected individual/team/office could have contributed to the Division on an ongoing basis or for specified period of time. Please specify the personal qualities, special efforts, and positive outcomes this individual/team/office has demonstrated to deserve the nomination and assist the committee in determining the winners. Multiple winners may be selected.

Outstanding Collaboration Award

Eligibility: Any member within the Division, (excluding Director level and above)
This award will recognize individual(s), office(s), or any combination thereof within the Division of Student Life who successfully incorporate a collaborative, campus-wide approach to serving TWU students. This notable spirit of collaboration within the Division or outside of the Division may have resulted in a programming effort, a procedural improvement, a significant outcome, or a positive learning environment that significantly contributes to TWU and TWU students. Please specify the collaborative efforts, personal qualities, special circumstances, and positive results this individual/team/office has demonstrated to deserve the nomination and assist the committee in determining the winners. Also, describe the budget-did this collaboration cost anything to implement? save money? Multiple winners may be selected.
