Family Fun Weekend

October 30th – 31st

Friday, October 30th
 – “Inside Out” on the top of the garage!  The movie starts at sunset.  Free snacks will be available, just bring your own chair or blanket!

Saturday, October 31st
 – Activities include interactive campus tours, resource tables, food trucks, crafts and games!  There will also be a Family Safety Plan Workshop at 1:00 in the auditorium (Room 1010)
Pre-Register by October 26th to receive a free t-shirt, tote bag, and a Kona snow cone!  Registration is now open!

Non Trad & Commuter Student Appreciation Week
November 2nd- 6th

TWU Bookstore logo show 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Room 3620
Carter Mobile Blood Drive 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, Front of the Building.  Walk-ins welcome, or sign up in advance for time.  Receive a free Jersey Mike’s regular sub coupon.

Three-Minute Thesis Competition
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Dallas Location TBA
Promote your research and jump start your career.  Be a challenger in the competition at TWU.  Share your trailblazing research, win prizes, and get noticed!
First Place: $1,000 Second Place: $500 Third Place: $200

12:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Front Parking Lot.  Stop by the Student Life Office for a ticket to get a free Boba Tea!

Thursday, November 5th

Zen Room 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Room 3700.  Guided relaxation and meditation in a calming and soothing environment.  Come-and-go.

Friday, November 6th

Legal Service e-Lounge 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.  The university’s attorney for students, Mr. Jerry Parr, will be online in the e-Lounge (log in to Blackboard Collaborate under the SGA_Dallas organization) to answer your legal services questions.

Veteran’s Week
November 3rd-11th

Remembrance Wall
All Week - 1st Floor Lobby -
Honor or thank a loved one who served in the United States Military by leaving a picture or message on the Remembrance Wall.

All Week - Dallas Campus Café  -
Write a personalized thank you message to a veteran, or to a health care provider for veterans.  Cards will be delivered to the Dallas VA Medical Center on November 11th.

Tuesday, November 3rd
Veteran Services Meet and Greet Breakfast 7:00 am – 9:00 am, 1st floor lobby (One-Stop Shop).  RSVP not required.  Students, Faculty, and Staff are invited for a meet-and-greet with the TWU Veteran's Center staff and Registrar's Office.  Complimentary coffee and breakfast.  Sponsored by the Dallas One-Stop and CARE.
Veteran Lunch Special 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Café.  RSVP not required.  Free lunch for military veterans, reservists, or active duty.  Q&A with the VA resource office during lunch in the Student Life Suite.

A Conversation with Dr. Hufft

Join College of Nursing Dean and veteran, Dr.Hufft for lunch, as she shares her insights and experiences as an Army Nurse and VA consultant. Lunch available to the first 75 registered attendees. Link to RSVP

Wednesday, November 11th
Veteran's Day Pride 

Wear red, white, and blue to honor and celebrate those who have served and are currently serving in the United States Military.  Attend the Student Government Association Lunch at 12:00 (lunch available on a first come, first serve basis) in Room 3620, and sign a banner for the Dallas VA Medical Center.  Observe a campus-wide Moment of Silence during the National Moment of Silence at 1:11 PM.  

Veteran’s Week Reflection Contest (Deadline November 1st)
Reflection Guidelines:

  • TWU Dallas Students, staff, and faculty are invited to create an original work reflecting on the significance of Veteran’s Day. The reflection may be formatted in prose, poetry, essay, or photograph. Written entries should not exceed 400 words.
  • Entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm on November 1st  and can be submitted to
  • Three top entries will be published in the Veterans edition of the Lasso, and will receive a $25.00 gift card or TWU dining dollar card
