Event Cancelled until further notice
Dear TWU Community,
We regret to inform you we have received notification that Dr. Maya Angelou is ill. As a result we have had to cancel her speaking engagement on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. It has been an exciting last few weeks with the impending visit of Dr. Maya Angelou to our campus, we hope, along with her agency, that we will be able to reschedule this event for later this semester. We ask for your continued patience as we work through this matter.
Please read this information in its entirety as it contains answers to questions you may have
Q: What do I do with my ticket?
A: Hold on to your ticket. We will honor the original tickets for the rescheduled date if held within this semester.
Q: When will it be rescheduled?
A: We are currently in communication with Dr. Angelou’s agency to reschedule this event
Q: How will information of a future date be disseminated?
A: Those of you holding tickets will be notified via the email you provided to us when you reserved or picked up your ticket. All notifications will also be posted on the CSD site at TWU.edu and on CAB and CSD Facebook pages, along with the Facebook pages of our partners
Q: Is the University sending expressions of recovery to Dr. Angelou
A: The Center for Student Development will collect any cards/notes or expressions of recovery to send to Dr. Angelou all materials need to be turned in at the Center for Student Development, Student Union ground floor by Thursday 1:00 pm.
Q: will additional tickets be released or will a larger venue be secured for greater participation when the event is rescheduled?
A: At this time we are unsure. But as with the scheduling of our original event we will try to accommodate as many members of the TWU community as possible.
We are also coordinating with IT services a video recording to send to Dr. Angelou expressing our well wishes. If you would like to take part in this we ask that you come to Margo Jones on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 between 10:00-12:00 pm (please arrive no later than 11:45am) to have your expressions recorded. We ask that you limit your message to 30 seconds. If you plan on expressing your well wishes in a creative form other than speaking into a microphone please contact Ana Barraza abarraza1@twu.edu so that the proper arrangements may be made. Please arrive prepared to be video recorded.
