House of Representatives

What is the House of Representatives?

The House of Representatives is branch of the Student Government Association (SGA) at Texas Woman’s University.   The House works as an intermediary between the University administration and all chartered and University sanctioned student organizations.  

All registered on-campus organizations at Texas Woman’s University are members under the House of Representatives.  Each organization selects one member within the organization to attend the House meetings every other week. Each organization’s delegate makes up the voting body of the House. From this group of delegates, the House officers are elected.

The House is in charge of the Student Leadership Development Fund and the Student Organization Programming Fund. The House of Representatives also facilitates the registration process of student organizations in conjunction with the Center for Student Development on an annual basis, in the fall, to keep information on student organizations accurate and updated. In addition, our student organizations are required to keep a current copy of their constitution and by-laws in the Center for Student Development. Other general functions include the establishment of new organizations, support of student organization efforts to promote leadership and team building skills through the sponsorship of student leadership conferences and campus activities.  

Spring 2012 House of Representatives General Body Meetings

All House of Reprensentatives general body meetings are held every other Monday at 12:25pm in Rm. 207 of the Student Union. Please send your House of Representatives designated delegate to attend the following meetings:

• January 30th
• February 13th
• February 27th
• March 12th
• April 2nd
• April 16th (last HOR meeting)
