Mission

The mission of Helping Hands of Texas Woman's University is to create a diverse family of volunteers that unites students with the community by providing opportunities for personal growth through service.

Helping Hands meets biweekly on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm in Student Union Room 207. Meeting dates for the 2011-2012 academic year are as follows:

Saturday, February 11: Dallas MDA Muscle Walk    7:30am-12:00pm
Volunteers will help with volunteer check-ins, taking group photos, help with the mascot, and be cheering for the runners!

This project has been cancelled.
The Green Team is KDB's newly formed garden work group. This a reoccurring volunteer opportunity. Volunteers do not need any garden experience and KDB will provide tools and refreshments!

Friday, February 17: North Texas Food Bank    9:00am-12:00pm
Volunteers will be helping the food bank by sorting out the food and packaging them into boxes for their warehouse!

Saturday, February 18: Education First Step    11:00am-4:pm
3rd Annual Saturday Conference for Educational First Steps which is here to improve the quality and availability of early childhood education for economically disadvantaged children. Volunteers will help with registration, navigating attendees to their training, and assisting the trainers as needed!

Saturday, February 18: Mini A-Kon   4:30pm-6:15pm
Mini A-Kon is partnering up with the Denton Public Library for a day of manga, anime, and cosplay! Volunteers are needed to clean-up/break down the program and everyone is free to come early to watch and enjoy the event!

Tuesday, February 21: Mardi Gras Parade    4:30pm-7:30pm
Fat Tuesday! Come out and help make sure the children are safe during the festivities that will be going on! Volunteers are needed at each post along the parade route for safety watch.
