Ana Barraza

Ana was born in Guatemala, but considers herself a native Rhode Islander. She earned her BA in 1993 in English with a concentration in African/African American Literature from the University of Rhode Island. After working several years in the private sector she returned to the University of Rhode Island and in 2004 she received a Masters degree in College Student Personnel. Upon graduation, Ana became Assistant Director of Intercultural Affairs at Stonehill College in Easton, MA. There she worked with Multicultural first year students as well as first year international students assisting in their transition to college, as well as provided diversity programming for the Stonehill community. Ana then returned to URI as a Program Coordinator for the Center for Student Leadership and Development, where she oversaw the a diverse group of leadership programs. In addition to being a Program Coordinator she also served as a lecturer in the Minor for Leadership Studies as well as the Senior Portfolio class and other elective Leadership classes. In 2009, Ana served as the Living Learning Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion for Semester at Sea. Upon retuning fro the Semester at Sea program, she became the Senior Coordinator for the Summer@Brown program at Brown University, where she over saw the residential program. Ana also served as a General Member on the URI Alumni Executive Board, the RI Young Professionals, and as a member of the RI chapter of Latinos Dollars for Scholars, and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Lindsey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Texas Woman’s University. Lindsey was very active as a TWU student holding multiple positions in the Student Government Association. She now shares her experience and expertise as a staff member, advising the Student Senate, and coordinating the Orientation program. Lindsey enjoys working with students and seeing them grow to their full potential. She is originally from the DFW area.

Volunteer Coordinator

Ebonii Nelson, Volunteer Services Coordinator, is a Dallas native and received her B.A. in Psychology from Southern Methodist University, and an M.Ed. in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia. With previous experience at institutions including: The University of Texas at Arlington, the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, Gainesville State College, and the University of Georgia she has been able to work in the areas of leadership, orientation, career services, student life/activities, intercultural affairs, Greek Life, student conduct, athletic support services, and policy creation out of the Dean of Students’ Office. In her current role, she works specifically with Volunteer programs and the student organization Helping Hands. She also organizes Pioneer Camp and works to coordinate Alternative Spring Break and Alternative Weekends. She has a passion for college students and the college environment as she believes it brings together the diversity of the world and encourages students to grow as they challenge one another and test boundaries while learning both inside and outside the classroom. Her personal mantra is: “Life is about two things: Loving and Learning.”

Molly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Development from Stephen F. Austin State University and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Higher Education at the University of North Texas. She was very involved at her undergraduate institution having served as a student leader in many capacities. She is very excited to be sharing her experiences with the students at Texas Woman’s University. Molly is from Sweeny, TX.


 

 

CAB Program Coordinator


Kiera Wade

Kiera holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas where she graduated with honors as Magna Cum Laude. During her tenure as a student, she was actively involved on her campus while serving in various leadership roles that included working for her school’s programming board for several years. Working in this position on the university’s programming council enabled her to acquire extensive knowledge and work experience in regards to the processes of the organizational framework and planning needs of a college programming board.  Kiera brings this reservoir of knowledge to Texas Woman’s University and works as the advisor for TWU’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) and is also in charge of the annual Family Day program. Kiera is currently a Higher Education graduate student at UNT, with a concentration in Student Affairs and also a member of the prestigious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Kiera is originally a native of East Texas.

 

 Coordinator Greek Life

Davida is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and holds a Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island.  During her matriculation, she was the URI Greek Life Graduate Assistant, overseeing 9 Panhellenic Council sororities,  11 Inter-Fraternity Council fraternities, 5 National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations, and 3 Multicultural Greek Council organizations. One of her major accomplishments at URI was re-establishing the Multicultural Greek Council. Students are now able to find another outlet for cultural awareness and learn more about origins of Latino Greeks.  She has over 5 years of experience working with low-income and/or minority students at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels as an advocate in helping them to achieve academic success.

 

 

Program Coordinator for Project [REV]

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Texas A&M University. As a student, her minor in Women’s Studies and leadership in student organizations sparked an interest in gendered violence prevention work. She went on to work at the Texas Council on Family Violence for 3 years before coming to TWU. As Program Coordinator for Project REV, she continues her work in domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention by advising the Project REV student organization and providing prevention programming and advocacy services for students, staff and faculty.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas and has 20 years experience in the field of graphic design. She has worked for TWU seven years coordinating with Student Life departments and student organizations in Denton, Dallas and Houston creating program advertising. The favorite part of her job is working with a great group of enthusiastic students and colleagues.

Beth holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Texas Woman’s University and has more than seven years of experience as a designer at TWU. She began working for the Center for Student Development as a student designer and was able to join the team full time after her graduation in 2006. The variety of design jobs and wonderful people she gets to work with are her favorite parts of working in the CSD. Beth lives in Ponder, TX with her husband and three dogs.

Summer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from The University of North Texas. After graduating in 2009, she worked as a webdesigner and freelance artist before coming to work as a Designer at TWU.  Her favorite part of working in the graphics department in the CSD is getting to create fun and interesting designs to promote student and campus events.  Summer is originally from Des Moines, Iowa.

Kim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas.  During college, she worked as a Peer Adviser for UT Dallas planning events and having direct contact with freshman students.  She has over 3 years of experience working in higher education.  She is originally from the Denton area.  The favorite part of her job is being able to work with students and her team members in such a creative environment.
