Each year the Texas Woman’s University Former Students Association selects one or more Master’s level and Doctoral level students to receive the Outstanding Graduate Student Award; and one or members of the senior class to receive the Outstanding Senior Award. The recipients are selected on the basis of academic excellence, involvement in extracurricular activities and contributions to the life of the university.
All awards from Dallas, Denton, and Houston will be presented during Honors Convocation on Thursday April 18, 2013 on the Denton Campus.
Nomination Procedure
Faculty, Staff and/or students are eligible to nominate qualified students. Furthermore, students may also nominate their peers or themselves. After a student is nominated, that nominee will receive an e-mail with instructions on the next steps in the application process.
Eligibility
- Students must be projected to graduate in December 2012 or May 2013 or have completed degree requirements by August 2013 academic year.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.50.
- Post baccalaureate students are not eligible for consideration of the Outstanding Graduate Awards. Post baccalaureate students should follow the criterion for the Outstanding Senior Awards.
Nominees Must Provide the Following Information
- UNDERGRADUATE/POST BAC STUDENTS:
2. Resume (include the following and remember to date all activities, honors, etc your resume should be a professional presentation of yourself)
a. Professional Presentations, Publications, Performances, or Exhibits
b. Scholarships/Honors/Awards
c. Honor Societies
d. Membership and Offices held in Societies, University Committees, and/or Student Associations
e. Work and any Volunteer History and Experience
3. Additional Services to TWU, to organizations and to the community
4. THREE letters of reference. UNDERGRADUTAE/POST BAC STUDENTS: may have a reference
from a Professor, Faculty, Staff, Work Supervisor, Graduate Assistant, it should not be a fellow
student/peer). Your letter of references should exhibit your diverse and broad involvement in and out of the
University Community. ALL Reference Letters may be submitted separately from your application however
they need to be received by Center for Student Development no later than January 18, 2013
5. Essay Question: on a separate sheet of paper, in 500 words or less please answer the following
questions.
“What makes TWU special to you? How do you promote that in the things you have done and continue to do?”
6. Optional Supporting Documents: Students may choose to provide additional supporting documents

MASTER’S STUDENTS:
1. ONE Page statement of Professional Goals
2. Resume (include the following and remember to date all activities, honors, etc your resume should
be a professional presentation of yourself)
a. Professional Presentations, Scholarly Publications, Performances, or Exhibits

c. Membership and Offices held in Societies, University Committees, and/or Student Associations

advisor). In addition you may have a letter of reference from a Professor, Faculty, Staff, Work Supervisor,
FELLOW Graduate Student or Undergraduate student that can speak to your involvement or
professional role. Reference Letters may be submitted separately from your application however they
need to be received by Center for Student Development no later than January 18, 2013.
5. The Nominee may document an approved thesis prospectus, a professional paper topic, or, in the
Performing Arts, a projected required professional presentation.
