TWU was awarded its first S-STEM grant in August 2008 and this grant continues to support S-STEM scholars. The title and the grant reference for this S-STEM award is:
"Scholarships for Undergraduates: Focus on Computational Biology" - NSF grant number 0806963
These programs will provide scholarships in the amount of $5,000-$10,000/yr to students majoring in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields that wish to pursue a STEM career path and also demonstrate both academic potential and financial need.
Applications are currently being accepted for scholarship awards for Fall 2013. Completed applications (including two recommendation forms) must be received by June 1, 2013 for consideration for an award in Fall 2013.
The STEM fields are:
- biological sciences (except medicine and other clinical fields)
- physical sciences, including physics, chemistry, astronomy, and materials science
- mathematical sciences
- computer and information sciences
- geosciences
- engineering
- technology areas associated with the preceding fields
(for example: biotechnology, chemical technology, engineering technology, information technology, etc.)
