S-STEM
Scholarships for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
The acronym STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Careers in the STEM fields have been spotlighted in the last decade. Being a STEM major gives a student confidence in landing a job, because graduates are in high demand.
If you are interested in one of the STEM fields, and you are thinking of earning a STEM degree, you may qualify for some extra financial support for tuition during the next semester. One of your options is the Texas Woman's University's Scholarships in STEM (S-STEM) Program. This special TWU scholarship program is funded by the National Science Foundation and targets STEM majors.
These programs will provide scholarships in amounts up to $10,000/yr to students majoring in STEM fields who wish to pursue a STEM career path and also demonstrate both academic potential and financial need.
STEM Fields
- biological sciences (except medicine and other clinical fields)
- physical sciences, including physics, chemistry, astronomy, and materials science
- mathematical sciences
- computer and information sciences
- informatics and health informatics
- geosciences
- engineering
- technology areas associated with the preceding fields
(for example: biotechnology, chemical technology, engineering technology, information technology, etc.)
*Current NSF funding has ended. No applications will be accepted in Fall 2018*

Funding
Current funding for the TWU S-STEM program is through a grant from the National Science Foundation. The title and the grant reference for the current TWU S-STEM is: "Quantitative and Analytical Sciences for Academic Reinforcement and Success (QuASARS)" - NSF grant number 1154394.
