Register for Library Services

Distance Learning students should register with the library every semester to keep their TexShare cards current.

You can search the TWU Online catalog and the databases without registering.

Register by clicking the direct link above, or go to http://www.twu.edu/library/dl/index.htm and select the Register with the Library link. Please allow 48 hours for processing.

Once your library account has been created, you will be able to use the My Account feature from the TWU Online Catalog page. Use My Account for renewals and interlibrary loan.

TexShare Card

The TexShare card program is a reciprocal borrowing program for the state of Texas. It is designed to allow the registered users of participating institutions to directly borrow materials from the libraries of other participating institutions. Registered users must obtain a TexShare Card from their home institution before they are able to check out materials from other participating institutions.

TWU is your home institution, and a TexShare card will automatically be sent to you after registering with the library.
While TexShare is a Texas program, often times out of state TWU students may use the TexShare card as proof of enrollment. When going to a library in your area, take a photo ID, your TWU ID and your TexShare card to prove that you are a currently enrolled TWU student.

TexShare cards are only good for one semester, so remember to register with the library each semester, in order to receive a new TexShare card.

Searching the Online Catalog

The TWU Online Catalog can help you locate books and journals.
Often, journals with full-text are available online.

Search for books and journals

The TWU Online Catalog may be accessed either from the TWU Library home page at http://www.twu.edu/library or directly by going to http://enterprise.twu.edu
To search the online catalog for books or journals

Begin at the library homepage http://www.twu.edu/library
Select Catalogs from the menu on the left side of the screen

Click the Catalogs link.

Select the Online Catalog button

Click the online catalog button.

The catalog will open to the basic search screen
Type the title of the item you are looking for in the search box
From the drop down menu, select Title to search for a book or select Journal Title to search for a journal
Click on Search

Select Title or Journal Title from the drop down menu, then click Search.

Search for full-text journal articles

TWU has access to many full-text journals. To find out if TWU has Full-Text access to a journal you are looking for:

Search the catalog by Journal Title
If we have full-text access to that journal, the catalog record will tell you which databases covers which dates
Click on the links to go to the database to search for your article.
Portal username and password are required

Select a WebLink.

Requesting Materials

If you cannot find certain books or journal articles electronically, request them using the Article Request or Book Request forms found on the Library's Distance Learning page.

Go to the Library's Distance Learning page http://www.twu.edu/library/dl/index.htm
Select Article Request form or Book Request form

Fill in the information and submit the form
