Child Abuse Prevention Society – C.A.P.S. is open to all TWU students.
C.A.P.S. was formed in 2006 at TWU. The organization seeks to enhance the knowledge of its members by bringing in guest speakers from various child welfare related agencies and/or entities, and by seeking child welfare opportunities for its members to experience and learn from.
C.A.P.S. members co-sponsor and participate in the annual Child Abuse Awareness Information Event in the Student Union. Members also participate in several volunteer events throughout the semester including Kinship Fair, the annual TWU/UNT Conference, Adoption Day, Rainbow Room Donations, and monthly volunteer projects within the community including working with Child Protective Services.
C.A.P.S. Mission Statement
To join together and help create a world that is safe and nurturing for all children. To encourage network opportunities amongst TWU students and to enhance the knowledge of students interested in child welfare issues.
Joining C.A.P.S only requires a small portion of your time for events and monthly meetings and a membership fee of $5 per semester. Meetings are held at the Student Union room 109 on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 12:20 - 12:55 .
