Jordan Fuchs
Assistant Professor of Dance

Jordan Fuchs has been presenting his choreography professionally for more than 15 years, first in San Francisco and then, since 1998, in New York City. His dance-making explores boundaries between choreography and improvisation, physical relationships at close-quarters, and possibilities for sharing the experiential nature of dance with the audience. His choreography has been commissioned by Danspace Project and by Kristina Isabelle High/Jinks Dance Company, and presented nationally at venues, including Dance Theater Workshop, Movement Research at Judson Church, Sushi in San Diego, Dancers' Group Footwork in San Francisco, and the Carriage House Stage in Providence. He has performed in New York and San Francisco for artists such as K.J. Holmes, Kirstie Simson, Luka Kito/Megan Boyd, Rebecca Lazier, Scott Wells, Lizz Roman, Joanne Nerenberg, and Potrezebie Dance Project. He has been on faculty at Hunter College and Movement Research and taught at Wesleyan University, NYU’s Experimental Theatre Wing, and Alfred University, as well as at festivals such as Moving Arts at Earthdance and Danz’Aqui Festival Internacional in Puerto Rico. From 2000-2007 he was a dance specialist in the Dance Division of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. He holds a BA in Religion from Oberlin College and an MFA in Choreography from Ohio State University, where he was a University Fellow.
