GUEST ARTIST
Michael Foley, MFA, Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of South Florida, was the guest artist choreographer at TWU for the Interdisciplinary Collaboration Initiative project with TWU Department of Dance, TWU Department of Music and Denton High School dance students working together in an intense creative space for a ten day period from January 13-22, 2006, to create an interdisciplinary/outreach project. During this collaborative process the groups created an original dance/music composition that began with the intersection between music and kinetic imagery. The project culminated with two Informances which were defined by the use of text, performance, and discussion, as a frame to discover and educate the audience about a creative process from multiple perspectives.

Aysha Upchurch, a hip-hop instructor at Joy of Motion Dance Center, New York, and rhythm tap instructor at City Dance Center at Strathmore, MD, taught a Tap workshop during the week of February 12-17, 2006, at the Dance Building on Bell Avenue, TWU Denton campus.

Larry Keigwin taught a two week intensive workshop during the May 2006 mini-semester that had everyone's blood pumping and the creative juices flowing. The workshop was well received by the students who worked hard, enjoyed every minute and were proud to present a showing of the work in progress at the end of the semester.

Bill Young conducted a one week master class series during October 2007, culminating in a lecture demonstration on Friday October 5, 2007, reviewing portions of his body of work and focusing on the various choreography styles and processes used in producing the work, as well as the influence of the individual dancers featured in the works. The master classes were invigorating both physically and mentally to the students and the lecture demonstration inspired many to more fully explore the different techniques presented.
