On February 18, 2011, the Board of Regents approved a new University smoking policy which permits smoking only in designated areas at the Denton and Dallas campuses. Houston remains a smoke-free campus in compliance with the City of Houston ordinances. The Denton campus map showing the location of the designated smoking areas is provided below. The implementation of this new University smoking policy, which goes into effect June 1, 2011, recognizes TWU’s responsibility as a leader in the health sciences in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for its students, faculty, staff and visitors, while accommodating individuals who choose to smoke.
