Congratulations to Yvonne Stephenson, SLIS master’s student and an ALA Spectrum Scholar, who was selected as one of 55 participants in the 2013 class of the ALA Emerging Leaders program, as announced in the ALA News press release. The Emerging Leaders program is “a leadership development program which enables newer library workers from across the country to participate in problem-solving work groups, network with peers, gain an inside look into ALA structure, and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity. It puts participants on the fast track to ALA committee volunteerism as well as other professional library-related organizations.” (ALA Emerging Leaders Program)

Participants in the Emerging Leaders program have the opportunity to attend a daylong session during the ALA Midwinter Meeting and participate in an online learning and networking environment during the next six months, culminating with a poster session presentation at the ALA Annual Conference.

Ms. Stephenson’s attendance at the ALA Midwinter Meeting is sponsored by the Texas Library Association, Texas Woman’s University, and a Professional Development Scholarship from the Graduate Library and Information Studies Association (GLISA), TWU’s student chapter of ALA.
