What is Second Life?
Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. It consists of everything you could find in the real world including universities and businesses. You are represented by an avatar and move around the world with your keyboard and mouse. Second Life is primarily a virtual social environment that people can customize to suit their needs. Second Life has its own economy, rules, and a culture of creativity. The uses of Second Life are numerous; it is used as a social outlet, a marketplace, a test-site for corporate products, and most importantly for TWU, as an innovative tool to explore new educational opportunities with technology.
