On December 13, 1989, the Texas Worker's   Compensation Act, Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes (V.A.C.S.), Article 8308 was signed into law.  In addition to providing the framework for reform of the worker's compensation system in Texas,  §7.21 of the Act made provision for "risk management for certain state agencies." The Act has now been codified and is referenced in the Texas Labor Code, Title 5, Subtitle A, Chapter 412.Texas Woman's University is obliged to the Act.
