Prior Workshops
2007 - 2008
SPSS and
Excel for Research: Thursday, March 13, 2008
(11:00 AM - 12:30 PM)
This seminar will be
especially useful to those with limited
experience in research methods, SPSS, and
Excel. The 1.5 hour seminar will provide
helpful tips on database management, SPSS use
with Excel, research design and methods.
“Tricks of the trade” will be shared that can
save time and headaches for individuals
relatively inexperienced in research. Simple
techniques can prevent many later problems in
areas, such as research design, file importing,
statistical analysis, and manuscript
preparation. Graduate students may attend this
seminar. Space is limited so please email Rene
Paulson (rpaulson@twu.edu),
by Tuesday, March 11, if you plan to
attend.
PsychData (Denton):
Thursday, February
21, 2008 (11:00 AM - 12:30 PM)
This workshop is
intended to train faculty, staff, and graduate students
on the use of PsychData, TWU’s online survey software
tool. Dr. René Paulson, Statistician, Office of
Research & Sponsored Programs, will be conducting the
training session. PsychData enables TWU faculty and
staff to create and host online surveys. PsychData is
similar to other software such as Survey Monkey, but has
additional features. Data can be collected more
efficiently with less cost, and cleaner data is produced
at a faster turnaround time. PsychData is externally
hosted which allows researchers to self-author,
distribute, and collect data on the web at any time. In
addition, PsychData allows for random assignment within
and between surveys. Although graduate students may
attend the training sessions, accounts can only be set
up for TWU faculty and staff. Therefore, in order to
post surveys, graduate students must use their faculty
member’s account. If an account needs to be set up, the
faculty or staff member should send their name,
department and e-mail address to
rpaulson@twu.edu to make this request. Because this
workshop is held in a computer lab, space is limited.
Please email
rpaulson@twu.edu to reserve your seat.
