The 2007-2008 Travel Assistance Fund, supported by a generous grant from the
TWU Foundation, will enable faculty to defray some of the travel costs
associated with presenting at professional conferences and meetings or
attending a meeting where they will receive a major award.
In
order to fund travel to conferences throughout the year, Research and
Sponsored Programs will allocate money for fall, spring, and summer
assistance (e.g., funding of fall requests will total approximately
one-third of the funds available for the program).
In order to avoid
disappointment, faculty members should submit an application as soon as they
receive formal confirmation that their presentations have been accepted or
that an award will be received. A maximum of $600 of expenses will be
funded.
Intended for faculty making major presentations that have been
peer-reviewed, juried, or selected by the major associations or societies in
their fields or receiving awards from those organizations, this program has
several eligibility requirements. Applicants must be full-time faculty of
Texas Woman’s University (TWU) with a teaching appointment for 2007 – 2008.
Faculty with part-time employment or on modified service are not eligible to
apply. Only one trip per person may be funded in a fiscal year. The travel
destination may be in the United States or abroad, but the travel
regulations of the State of Texas apply to all trips. NOTE: Requests for
Travel Approval (RTAs) for foreign travel must have authorization from the
Provost at least 30 days prior to travel and then be forwarded to the
Chancellor for signature.
Submit
the application form with attachments showing that the unit administrator
(department chair, director, or associate dean) and dean have approved the
request. The application for funds should be received in the Office of
Research & Sponsored Programs (Denton) at least two weeks before
departure although more time should be allowed for foreign travel requests
(see note in above paragraph).
On
completion of the travel, the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs will request a
brief report on the trip so that the Provost and TWU Foundation will be
aware of the benefits to faculty provided through the Travel Assistance
Fund. |
