ELIGIBILITY

Undergraduate and graduate students of any academic discipline are invited to submit projects.  All projects must have a faculty sponsor.

APPROVAL

Abstract submissions must be approved by the faculty sponsor. Upon receipt of the abstract, the Symposium staff will request official approval from the faculty sponsor listed on the application. This email will contain specific instructions for the faculty member to submit the approval. You are strongly urged to have approval from your faculty member prior to marking the abstract as complete.

DEADLINE

Please apply early!  The number of virtual poster and platform (oral) presentations that can be accommodated is limited.  Abstracts must be submitted by Thursday, February 23, 2012.

SUBMSSION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Abstracts will be submitted through the Student Symposium SharePoint site. You may be prompted for your Portal username and password. If you are accessing the site from an off-campus computer, you may need to add "@twu.edu" after your username to log in.
  2. The online form will include an abstract of not more than 150 words (excluding title) describing the project.  Abstracts of works-in-progress will be accepted.
  3. Abstract forms must be completed no later than Thursday, February 23, 2012.
  4. Abstracts that do not adhere to all of the abstract submission rules, are incomplete, or do not meet the application deadline may not be processed. Please double check the information for accuracy (including spelling) as it will be used to generate Symposium materials including certificates, nametags and the program.
  5. To initiate the abstract form, click here and press the "new" button to create a new document. Required fields are marked with red asterisks. Press the "save" icon at the top of the screen to save the abstract.  Please save the form using your last name, first name. If you have more than one abstract, add a number to the filename to make it unique. Once the abstract is saved, you may log into the SharePoint site and edit it at any time. When the abstract form is complete, check the "Abstract Is Completed" box at the bottom of the page. As long as the abstract remains visible on the SharePoint site, you may make changes. However, once a Symposium staff member has processed the application, you will no longer have access to your abstract form as it will be removed from the site. The form will not be processed unless the box at the end of the form is checked.
  6. Primary authors who have submitted their abstract forms before the deadline will receive, by March 1, formal e-mail confirmation that the forms are being processed.
  7. Notices of presentation assignment will be emailed to the primary author in late March, 2012.  If you do not receive an email by the end of March, contact the Symposium office.
