Timeline for Proposals through the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP)

If you are planning to submit an external grant proposal through the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs, please adhere to the following time schedule:

  1. 3-4 weeks prior to the due date, meet with ORSP staff to inform of submission and begin working on budget;

  2. 2 weeks prior to the due date, complete budget and rough draft of proposal;

  3. 10 days prior to due date, begin routing proposal through unit administrator and/or dean;

  4. 7-10 days prior to due date, submit the proposal signed through the dean to Research & Sponsored Programs.

Steps 1 through 4 allow the proposal to be submitted to Dr. Clayton, Provost, for signature within her required timeline. Dr. Clayton requires a week to review and sign off on grant proposals. This also allows time to accommodate the busy travel schedules of administration.

The ORSP offers many services that assist in proposal development. The earlier in the process that you contact our office, the greater the assistance we can provide.
