TWU Proposal Packet
Why are we making changes in the procedure for processing a proposal for external funding?

We believe that we must provide earlier assistance to faculty who plan to submit a proposal for external funding.

What are the major changes in procedures?

We are asking for a copy of the budget and budget justification two weeks prior to deadline so that these documents can receive review.  Receiving these documents earlier in the process will enable us to resolve any problems that may surface as a result of this scrutiny. We will no longer be trying to correct an inaccurate or inadequate budget hours before the proposal needs to be mailed. Budget clarity and accuracy will enhance the quality of TWU proposals.

PROPOSAL APPROVAL FORM

Basic information about the proposal is collected on this three-page form (aka “the yellow transmittal sheet”), such as the name of the Principal Investigator (and any co-investigators), the project type, source of funds, the type of award, the title of the project, the name and mailing address of the sponsor, and the proposal deadline. This information will be entered in the proposal and grants database in the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs. The form also serves as a check-sheet for other requirements such as use of human subjects and animal care and use. Signatures gathered on this form signify that each administrator has reviewed the proposal and that any questions or concerns about the grant application have been resolved.
