Description of Research Activities:  My primary research topic is the Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II. My work follows the women from their youth in the 1930s, through their wartime experiences as pilots, and on to the present. I study the changing role of women in the military and women in aviation, particularly from WWII to the present. I am also interested in public and private memory and how and why they both change over time which compliments my work with oral history. As Campus Coordinator of the Civic Agency Initiative, I am working to recognize the academic and social civic engagement that is going on at TWU and to expand the interest in civic engagement so that it will be a permanent part of the TWU campus culture.

Key Words: women pilots, oral history, World War II, civic agency or engagement, aviation
