Description of research activities: Dr. Burns' research interests include designing, developing, testing, and evaluating innovations in computer-based learning and teaching in such areas as professional writing and speaking in disciplines, international programs in English language and literature, gifted and talented education, innovations in teacher certification programs, advances in research methodology in the humanities, and the history of rhetorical creativity (invention and memory).  In 2002, Dr. Burns served as a Fulbright Senior Specialist to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for the Gifted in Riyadh.  In 2009, he served as the Visiting Scholar in Digital Media and Composition at The Ohio State University. He now holds the Holland H. Coors Endowed Chair in Educational Technology at the United States Air Force Academy.
