| Description of research activities: NIH is currently reviewing a CBPR grant Dr. Wiginton submitted in March. As part of the contacts established for that grant, she would like to conduct epidemiological studies of the prevalence of lupus (SLE) and arthritis (RA) among residents in the West Dallas area. At some point, she would like to determine the prevalence of SLE in Texas and Oklahoma being that these two states rank at the top for deaths due to SLE (per study conducted by Dr. Wiginton and Dr. Ward). No population-based prevalence studies have been conducted to this point. | |
