| Description of research activities: Dr. Burns' research interests include designing, developing, testing, and evaluating innovations in computer-based learning and teaching in such areas as professional writing and speaking in disciplines, international programs in English language and literature, gifted and talented education, innovations in teacher certification programs, advances in research methodology in the humanities, and the history of rhetorical creativity (invention and memory). In 2002, Dr. Burns served as a Fulbright Senior Specialist to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for the Gifted in Riyadh. He also has forthcoming publications in COMPUTERS AND COMPOSITION, as well as forthcoming presentations for South Central Modern Language Association, Texas Council of Teachers of English/Language Arts. He is currently serving as Chair, State of the Profession Committee, for the Texas Council of Teachers of English/Language Arts. | |
