Description of research activities: Dr. Walker-Batsonís research focus is on neurological rehabilitation and mechanisms of learning after brain injury. She has received a James B. Shannon biomedical research award from the National Institutes of Health to explore the potential of using adjunctive pharmacotherapy to enhance recovery from language (aphasia) and motor (hemiplegia) deficits subsequent to stroke. Current research includes explorations of brain stimulation with transcranial direct current (+ DCS) paired with behavioral treatment to enhance recovery from aphasia following stroke.
