Benefit Replacement Pay (BRP)

Personnel who were employed by the State of Texas as of August 31, 1995, are eligible to receive Benefit Replacement Pay (BRP). BRP should be added to the salary or wage amount for personnel, and included when calculating fringe benefits. BRP is calculated as follows:

Salary < $16,500: BRP = 5.85% of salary
Salary >$16,500: BRP = $1,034

Personnel with 9 month appointments do not receive BRP for summer assignments.

*Because of the many nuances involved when calculating BRP, please feel free to call the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs for clarification when preparing budgets.
