North Texas Transition Program in Biomedical Science (BRIDGES Program)

Texas Woman's University (TWU) and Tarrant County College (TCC) have partnered to assist more individuals from underrepresented minority groups to pursue a baccalaureate degree in mathematics or science so they can eventually obtain a Ph.D. degree and build a career in biomedical research. Bridges students have access to research faculty as well as peer mentors, and the Bridges program aims to help 10 TCC students each year to excel in the classroom through individualized tutoring, advising and a student support group. The Bridges Program also provides opportunities for participants to learn more about biomedical research by offering seminars, laboratory tours, a summer preparatory course for research, and research-related events. The participants have opportunities to obtain experience in research; while the program also provides opportunities for TCC faculty to collaborate with TWU faculty in research and mentoring.
