Fee Waiver for Students in Programs Offered Exclusively for Specific School District Cohorts
At the June 5, 2009 meeting of the Board of Regents of the Texas Woman's University, the Board of Regents approved a motion:
"for approval to waive certain fees for TWU students in programs offered exclusively for specific school district cohorts" as follows:
Medical Services Student Center Publication Fee One-half of Student Services
Authority to waive these fees is given in section 54.5035 "Waiver of Fees" of the Texas Education Code, which says, "the governing board of an institution of higher education may waive a mandatory or discretionary fee for a specific category of students if the board determines that the waiver is in the best interest of the institution or is critical to the viability of an academic initiative."
The waiver is essential to the success of continuing TWU's partnership with school districts and is in the best interest of TWU.
