After more than two years of taking the “show on the road,” the TWU Drama Program will return home to a new Redbud Theater Complex in spring 2007. The northwest side of TWU’s historic Hubbard Hall is currently undergoing major renovations for the new, state-of-the-art theater complex. The TWU Drama Program will debut its production of “The Heiress” on March 1, 2007 in the new Redbud Theater. The official grand opening event for the theater complex is planned for April 14, 2007.

The new theater complex replaces the original Redbud Theater, the drama program's home since 1960 that was retired in 2004.  The new theater complex was designed by Bottino Grund Architects of New York and Austin and is being built by Joe Funk Construction Engineers, Inc. of Dallas.

The estimated project cost is $3.2 million, much of which will be raised from private donations.  For information on funding opportunities, please contact Sheila Marlow at 940-898-3865 or smarlow@twu.edu .

At its completion, the new 19,000-square-foot complex will seat 120, and will have ample space for theater education and support, including:

  • Rehearsal room/classroom
  • Practice room/classroom
  • Practice area
  • Make-up room/classroom
  • Green Room/conference room/student lounge
