TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS

Available Summer 2005

The School of Physical Therapy, Dallas Campus, seeks faculty members with expertise in one or more of the following areas: neuromuscular rehabilitation, orthopaedic manual therapy, women’s health, integumentary management, geriatrics.  The Houston campus seeks a faculty member with expertise in one or more of the following areas: exercise science, sports/orthopaedic physical therapy, women’s health.  Other combinations of expertise will be considered by both campuses.

The successful applicant will possess an earned post-professional doctoral degree (PhD preferred) in physical therapy or a related discipline.  A postbaccalaureate (entry-level) degree from an accredited physical therapy educational program is preferred.  At least 3 years of clinical experience as a licensed physical therapist and eligibility for physical therapy licensure in Texas are required.  Certification as a clinical specialist is an asset.

Previous teaching experience is expected, along with a definable research agenda.  Teaching responsibilities will be in content areas that match the applicant’s expertise and departmental needs.  Teaching opportunities exist in both the entry-level master’s (MS) and post-professional (MS & PhD) degree programs.  Co-teaching and collaborative research are priorities for the School of Physical Therapy.

Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.  These fulltime, tenure track positions are available in Summer 2005.  Application review will begin in Spring 2005 and continue until the positions are filled.

TWU is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research-Intensive institution.  TWU is a coeducational, public university with over 300 students enrolled in the School of Physical Therapy’s graduate programs.  In operation since the mid-1960s, the School offers a 26-month professional MS degree program and two post-professional programs that culminate in either the MS or PhD degree.  All degree programs are taught on both the Dallas and Houston campuses by 21 faculty members.  Development of an entry-level DPT degree program is a high priority for the School.
