Physical Therapist
The School of Physical Therapy
at Texas Woman's University is a pioneer in graduate education for the physical
therapist. Among the nation's leading providers of health care professionals,
TWU has one of the largest programs in physical therapy in the United States.
The School offers a post-professional transitional doctor of physical therapy (tDPT) and
a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in physical therapy. TWU was the 4th institution
in the country that began offering the PhD in Physical Therapy. Since
1986, over 45 graduates have completed their PhD in our program and have become
leaders in research, education and clinical training all over the world.
Our Philosophy
Texas Woman's University
School of Physical Therapy offers the tDPT
and Ph.D. degrees for physical therapists. The purpose of these programs is
to prepare qualified physical therapists to assume leadership roles in research,
clinical practice and education. Program objectives include facilitating the
discovery and dissemination of new knowledge, as well as specialized skill
acquisition. TWU acknowledges the changing role of physical therapy
in society and views graduate education as vital to further the development
of the profession.
