Students are accepted into the Respecialization Program on a limited, space-available basis only. The Respecialization Program is designed for professionals that already have a related Masters degree in Psychology but want to become Nationally Certified as a School Psychologist (NCSP) and become licensed as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). Applications for the Respecilization Program are taken only once a year and are due February 1st. Applicants must apply to the graduate school as a non-degree seeking student and indicate on the application form that they are applying for the Respecialization Program in School Psychology. Applicants are generally invited to interview with the School Psychology Program faculty to determine the coursework required to respecilize in school psychology. Respecialization students must have completed, or will be required to complete, the coursework that is required for the SSP degree. Since respecialization students are taking coursework as non-degree seeking students, they must recognize that only 12 hours of that completed coursework could be transfered into another degree program (e.g., a doctoral school psychology program) in the future. A respecialization program is ideally suited to a professional that already has a Master's degree in a related field of psychology, is lacking just a few courses and perhaps some practicum and internship experiences that are required in the SSP program, and has no desire to pursue a doctorate in school psychology. Questions about the respecialization program can be directed to Dr. Kathy DeOrnellas at kdeornellas@twu.edu.
