2. PROGRAM COSTS
(All data based on the 2010-2012 Graduate Catalog)
Full Time Student Tuition
Resident (in-state) students: $213.00 per semester hour
Nonresident (out-of-state and foreign) students $523.00 per semester hour
All incoming students are required to be enrolled full-time, which is defined as a minimum of 9 credit hours per long semester (Fall and Spring semesters). Most students will carry 12-13 credit hours per semester, and 3-9 in the summer. Out-of-state tuition is waived and in-state rates granted for any student receiving a scholarship of $1000 or greater. In the past 7 years, all students but 1 who have applied for a New Graduate Student Scholarship have received it and are thus classified as in-state for tuition purposes (see information on financial aid below).
For students carrying the maximum load based on the numbers above (13 credits Fall, 13 Spring, 9 Summer = 35 credit hours) tuition would be $7,455 per year.
For students carrying a minimum load (9 credits Fall, 9 Spring, 3 Summer = 21 credit hours) tuition would be $4473 per year.

Financial Aid, Loans, Fellowships, Scholarships, and Assistantships
- Adjustments to tuition may include financial aid, grants, loans, scholarships and assistantships. Information regarding these opportunities may be found in the following locations:
- The TWU Financial Aid Office http://www.twu.edu/finaid/. In addition to traditional loans, as noted earlier, the vast majority of students are awarded a New Graduate Student Scholarship. Awards are $2,500 per year for full-time students. This award is automatically renewable for up to three years for Doctoral students as long as the recipient maintains a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average. Given that we require that students maintain a 3.5 GPA this requirement has not been problematic.
- Assistantship applications and general information about all university assistantships are on the Graduate School website at http://www.twu.edu/gradschool/graduate-assistants.asp . When completed, applications should be sent to the Chair of the Department of Psychology & Philosophy, currently Dr. Dan Miller at DMiller@twu.edu for consideration. Recently, additional assistantships have been available through the Office of Undergraduate Studies; contact Ann Huestis at ahuestis@twu.edu for information.
- Grant support is variable depending on faculty grant acquisition.
- The TWU Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research has indicated that the average amount of annual support granted to our doctoral students over the last three years (2008-2010) has been $8,719.

Note: We have no students who have been placed in non-APA accredited or Non-APPIC programs; no students who have been placed in unfunded, part-time, or two-year internships. For the years 2005-2006, data on the original number of applicants in the internship match process are not available, only the number of students who obtained internships. Due to this missing data, only numbers are presented in rows for those 3 years, as percentage information cannot be calculated.
