Application Procedure

The Selection Process:

TWU accepts 50 students at our Dallas campus and 50 students at our Houston campus each year. The Denton office begins processing applications in July, a year prior to beginning the program. Once applications are complete they are forwarded to the Physical Therapy Admissions Committee for review beginning in September. Only complete applications with all supporting documentation are reviewed by the Admissions Committee on each campus. Accepted Students are notified by phone and also by mail. Once the classes are full, applicants may be placed on the alternate list. Alternates will be notified by mail in January. If an applicant reapplies the following year, the committee expects to see an improvement in the file.

Deadlines for 2011 Applicants:  In order to be considered for early acceptance, ALL application materials must be received by September 1.  Select individuals from this early pool will be notified by October 31 if they are being offered a position at TWU.  The final deadline for receipt of application materials is November 1.  The Admissions Committee will then review all outstanding applications and select the class by December 15NOTE:  Applications received after November 1 will be placed in next year’s applicant pool if the applicant so desires.

Accepted students will be required to provide proof of immunizations records, current CPR and AED certificates from the American Heart Association (including infant, child and adult), and verification of medical insurance before the first day of class. CPR must include hands-on training.  Immunization records and all certificates must be kept current throughout the physical therapy program (33 months).
