HCA 5782 - Interdisciplinary Models (Houston)

Description:  This course will present the demographic dynamics that characterize the elderly population and the fundamental aspects of aging, focusing on the biological, social and psychological aspects of normal and pathological aging. It will provide the students the opportunity to analyze the factors that affect the delivery of health care services to older adults and apply knowledge and skills to deal with bio-psycho-social problems of the geriatric adult through multidisciplinary intervention.*

Description: This course will begin with a review of embryology and will explore the conditions under which both typical and atypical development occur. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the relationship between structure and function of the nervous system as it relates to children with disabilities. Description: Examines the structural anatomy of the upper extremity, including the musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular and integumentary systems; and relates this through an understaning of biomechanical principles to its function in both normal and abnormal (disease or injury) conditions.
