Application Requirements / NEW Procedures

TWU will be participating in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service known as PTCAS, beginning July 2015 for the applicants applying to the Entry DPT program for fall 2016.

Application deadline: October 15, 2015.

  • Application Opens July 1, 2015. Apply early to allow time for processing.

The School of PT would like to welcome
two new faculty. 

Dr. Kathy Shirley, Assistant Clinical Professor, to the Dallas faculty and Dr. Jennifer Ellison, Visiting Associate Professor to Houston Faculty.  Dr. Shirley has served the School of PT as the Supplemental Learning Lab Coordinator on the Dallas campus and now joins us in a faculty position.  She is board certified in Geriatric and Orthopedic physical therapy.  Dr. Ellison comes to us from UTMB in Galveston.   Her research interests include physical therapy interventions for people with orthopedic dysfunction and gait analysis in patients with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular dysfunction.

Dr. Alex Ortiz & Dr. Wayne Brewer awarded THECB Grant

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has awarded a two year grant totaling $149,774 to Drs. Alex Ortiz and Dr. Wayne Brewer, Physical Therapy – Houston for a project entitled “Selecting Under-represented Cohorts and Creating Enhancement of Skills and Scholastic Achievement in Physical Therapy (SUCCESS-PT).”

TWU DPT students meet the Reach100 Membership Challenge for 2014. This is a nationwide challenge to encourage APTA student membership. Programs that have reached 80-100% membership are honored.
