Join the Orientation Team

Thank you for your interest in an Orientation Leader (OL) position. The Center for Student Development is looking forward to an exciting year filled with memorable experiences. Collectively, Orientation Leaders are responsible for introducing Texas Woman’s University to more than 1,200 new students along with over 1,000 parents.

As an Orientation Leader you will…

  • Welcome and interact with over 1,200 new students and their families
  • Serve as a mentor to new students
  • Leader skills to conduct small group discussions
  • Develop relationships with key campus partners
  • Instill Pioneer Pride in all new students
  • Participate in 100+ hours of leadership training
  • Become a stronger leader and feel more connected to TWU!

Qualifications

  • OLs must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA through Pioneer Camp (August 2015)
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing with the Texas Woman’s University
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Will be enrolled full-time during Fall 2015 on one of TWU’s campuses (registered for classes no later than May 1, 2015)

*Translators must be fluent in Spanish, which includes written and oral communication

  • Be ready to take leadership and communication skills to the next level

  • Be an effective and positive role model for other students on campus

Time Commitment

All Orientation Leaders must be able to attend ALL trainings and required activities.

5-Day Summer Training

  • Orientation Leaders must be available to stay in the residence halls during all New Student Orientations (NSO) and work days before each NSO.
  • All Orientation Leaders will work all NSO, each workday (the day before each NSO), two 1-day orientation sessions, and Pioneer Camp (August 20-23).
  • If you wish to take summer courses, you must seek the approval of your supervisor PRIOR to registration.
  • Term of position: February 2015- August 23, 2015.
