What is the Pioneer Portal?

• This is your student account and email address. The "portal" allows you access to your email, student bills, grades, and is your link to registering for classes. You must have a portal account to register for classes at TWU. Please create your Portal account as soon as you're accepted to TWU.

What if I want to change my schedule?

• During registration of classes, a student may make changes in their schedule by conferring with their adviser and making those changes through their portal account. This procedure is possible until the first day of classes for the semester.

What are Living Learning Communities? What do they encompass?

• Living Learning Communities (LLC) provide student learning opportunities outside the classroom that strengthen student intellect and personal growth. There are several LLCs to choose from. Those focusing on freshmen students are: Neighbors Educated Together (NET) offers first year students the opportunity to take classes with a group of students and live with one another for the first year. First Year Connections (FYC) are developed around special interest themes of wellness and leadership. Each involves an application and fee.
• Students wishing to participate in one of the other LLC's may apply to live in the Arts Community, Health Professions Community, International Experience Community, or Honors Scholars Community. Descriptions for these Living Learning Communities can be found on the University Housing website.

What are the names of the residence halls and who do they service?

• Guinn Hall - Co-ed residence hall with private bathrooms
• Stark Hall - All female residence hall with private bathrooms
• Jones Hall - All female residence hall with community bathrooms
• Lowry Woods Community - apartment style complex for family housing and upperclassmen

Where are the dining facilities?

•  Student Union: Underground - located in the basement; Garden Room & Baker's Dozen - located on 2nd floor

•  Guinn Commons - C-Store (convenience store)

•  CFO Kiosk - located on 2nd floor of CFO

Where is DPS?

• The Department of Public Safety is located in the basement of Hubbard Hall across the street from the Admissions & Financial Aid building. This is where you will purchase a parking sticker if you have a car on campus or online through your Pioneer Portal account.

How much is a parking sticker?

• Parking stickers are $70 per academic year or $50 per semester for both residential and commuter students.

What is the emergency number on campus?

• You may dial X2911 from any campus phone to reach DPS or you may pick up the telephone at any blue light call box.

Where do I get my student ID?

• Jones Hall 3rd floor at Food and ID Services, open Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm

Where can I find an ATM?

• There are two ATM machines located in the Student Union. One is on the first floor next to the Post Office and the other is on the second floor next to the vending machines.

What academic support services are available?

• Academic Advising Center: assists with advising students for classes and provides guidance for students' academic careers and programs.
• Disability Support Services: responds to specific needs of students with disabilities.
• Science Learning Recourse Center (SLRC): provides assistance to students in chemistry, biology, and physics
• Write Site: provides writing instruction, special workshops, and computer-aided writing instruction
• Math & Technology Success Center: math tutoring
  

What is UNIV 1011?

• University 1011 is a one-hour credit course and the final step of Orientation.
• Its purpose is to enhance a student's academic skills and abilities to succeed in college courses.

Where do I get a PO Box and how much does it cost?

• A post office box can be rented from the U.S. Post Office located in the Student Union on the first floor.
• The cost for a PO Box is $62 per year or $31 for 6 months and $1 for the key. These may be purchased during Pioneer Camp the week before classes begin.
  

What types of student organizations are on campus?

• There are over 100 chartered and university sanctioned student organizations on campus. You can choose from departmental, special interest, religious, honorary, Greek letter organizations and sports clubs. Go here to find out more about these and other great leadership activities.

Where can I find a list of student organizations?

• A list of current student organizations can be picked up at the front desk of the Center for Student Development on the first floor of the Student Union or you may go online at www.twu.edu/o-sl/csd/DirectoryStuOrgs.html
