TWU WII Wellness Program

The Wii Wellness program is designed to allow distance education and commuter students the opportunity to participate in a structure exercise program from home. All you need to participate is access to a Wii and a weight scale. Participants need to conduct a pretest before starting the program. The pretest can be as simple as measuring you weight prior to starting the program or participants can take a more extensive pretest based on their expectations for the program. Participants interested in a more extensive pretest can download one from the forms below this paragraph. Each test has a detailed description of the assessment process. The program consists of exercising twice a week with  a 5 minute warm up (walking ), 30 minutes or more of any Wii game(preferably Wii sports), and a 5 minute cool down (stretching).  After the 10 weeks, participants conduct a posttest to determine the health related benefits of the program.

Pretest

The pretest should be taken prior to starting the exercise program. Participants can decide how many health related components that want to measure, but all participants should measure their weight prior to starting the program.

Posttest

The posttest should be taken after the 10 week program. Participants should measure the same health related components they tested during the pretest to determine how much they improved during the 10 week session.

Workout log

The workout log allows participant to chart their workouts over time. It allows participants to record the length of their warm up, workout, and cool down sessions.

Safety Information

The safety information sheet informs participants of risks associated with exercise and when to stop. It provides detailed descriptions of the signs and symptoms of severe complication to exercise.

Par-Q

The Par-Q is a detailed self assessment of physical fitness for exercise. It allows participants to assess the current level of fitness to determine if they are physically fit enough to start an exercise program. If a participant answers yes to any question on the Par-Q they should consult a physician before starting the program.

TWU Wii Wellness Blog

Optional blog allows participants to interact with each other. Connect with other participants to set up online competition or post results to share with other Wii Wellness participants.
