F-1 Transfers
School Transfer Procedure for F-1 Students
- Student is admitted to the new school.
- Student informs the International Student Advisor at the school the
student is currently attending of his/her intent to transfer.
- Current school provides a "clearance letter for transfer" to the
student or new school, or completes the form as provided by the new
school.
- Student must enroll in the new school in the first term after leaving
the former school or the first term after annual vacation.
- Within 15 days of registration at the new school, student must
complete the following with the Foreign Student Advisor at the new
school:
- Sign item 11 on the SEVIS I-20 issued by the new school.
- Present a copy of the previous school's SEVIS I-20
- Provide letter of clearance for transfer from the former
school.
- Foreign Student Advisor at the new school will then complete
the following:
- Type in the student's BCIS Admission number (from I-94 card) on the
SEVIS I-20.
- Issue new SEVIS I-20 to student.
