Do you have to live with the sorority?
Different sororities have different requirements. TWU does have some sorority floors in our residence halls.
* Alpha Omicron Pi requires members to live on their sorority floor for 2 years, unless the member lives with their family - as space allows.
Are there sorority houses on campus?
No, there are no sorority houses on campus.
When is recruitment?
NPC affliates - Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, and Sigma Sigma Sigma -
Formal Recruitment is September 5-7, 2008.
NPHC affliates - Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Zeta Phi Beta
Recruitment occurs at different times in the semester and will be publicized when those dates are set.
Sigma Lambda Alpha, Chi Upsilon Sigma, Lambda Psi Delta, and Alpha Theta Omega Recruitment occurs at different times in the semester and will be publicized when those dates are set.
How long is Recruitment?
The length of recruitment is different for each of the groups.
What does pledging consist of? How long is it?
Pledging consists of learning the sororities' history, community service, meetings, social events, etc. and usually lasts between 6-9 weeks.
Who can go through Recruitment?
At TWU a student must have at least a 2.5 GPA to participate.
What are the costs involved in joining a sorority?
The cost ranges between $800-$1000 depending on the sorority.
What kind of events/activities does each sorority do?
Activities may include mixers, community service, dances, Greek Week, recreation sports, and much much more!
What kind of community service does each sorority conduct?
Each sorority has a specific philanthropy that they support both locally and nationally. Please consult your Greek brochure.
Are academics important to sororities?
Yes, we promote/require study halls and study groups because you need to maintain a strong GPA to stay active. Academics is a students number one priority.
How can I find out more specifics about a sorority?
Please attend the Organizational Fair and Greek session on the first day of Freshman Orientation! Also you may look at the webpages on the Greek Life Chapter link.
What is the hazing policy at TWU?
TWU does not tolerate hazing. These policies and reporting procedures are listed in the Student Handbook.
