Volunteer Services

Get Involved

image We would love to have you involved in Volunteer Services! We have several opportunities for you to be a part of our community. There is no major commitment; we just want you to know how to get connected to TWU and Denton. We can get you connected in fun group projects or individual services, or you can have fun at one of our special campus events.

Individual Service
You can become involved in individual services in the community by matching up with the right agency in Denton County. Check out some of our featured service projects on the Community Service home page, link to our Partnership page for a listing of local agencies matched with TWU, or check out the United Way website for a complete listing of opportunities. Either way, you have the power to make a difference and create change in your world!

Group Service Projects
Join in the fun with one of the many Helping Hands sponsored service projects or events throughout the year. Helping Hands is a Center for Student Development (CSD) sponsored student organization dedicated to the support of Texas Woman's University students interested in learning about volunteerism and participating in community service. You can be a part of the planning process or just participate in TWU Helping Hands-sponsored activities. To find out more about joining Helping Hands, check out the Helping Hands site.

Students participate in a variety of group projects with their fellow students including working with children at Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home, beautifying the city with Keep Denton Beautiful, visiting the residents at local nursing homes, and assisting with a variety of community events and agencies.

For information on upcoming projects, contact Erin Lansmon-Winter at elansmon@twu.edu or 940-898-3593 or register with our listserv by sending an email to volunteer-request@lists.twu.edu to receive information throughout the year. Leave the subject line blank. In the body of the message, type: Subscribe Volunteer. There is no commitment. We just want to give you information on how to get connected in your community!
