First Year SUCCESS Mentoring and Advising Program
Protégé Application
SUCCESS is an acronym for Supporting Undergraduates Collectively by Creating Educational Opportunities to enhance Skills and Scholastic Achievement. SUCCESS provides freshman and transfer students (PROTÉGÉS) the opportunity to share ideas with and learn from TWU Faculty/Staff Mentors and Peer Mentors outside a classroom setting. Through interaction with mentors, students are encouraged to excel academically, socially, and culturally while making a smooth transition into college life. Faculty/Staff and peer associations are important in creating opportunities for leadership and cultural support and can provide a supportive educational environment aimed at student development and academic success. First Year SUCCESS operates on a multicultural paradigm and encourages students to develop their intercultural communication skills so that they can be personally and professionally competent in a multicultural society. Three levels of Mentoring
- Group- Year-round activities are incorporated to help the Protégés create a supportive network with one another.
- Peer Mentoring- TWU Junior and Seniors will facilitate smaller group mentoring (satellite group).
- Faculty/Staff Mentoring- will mentor Protégés during the Spring semester.
