Institute Overview
Through the various strands, institute participants will study in depth critical factors and instructional practices that influence successful literacy attainment among English language learners.

Graduate Credit
The institute may be taken for course credit which may be applied towards a masters degree plan. The course will begin on-line and culminate with this two-day conference. Graduate tuition and fees apply in addition to the price of the institute. Students who are not current graduate students must apply and be accepted to the graduate school (http://www.twu.edu/o-grad) as non-degree seeking prior to beginning the course.



Jill Kerper Mora

Keynote Speaker

Jill Kerper Mora, Professor Emeritus, San Diego State University
Jill Kerper Mora is Professor Emeritus from the College of Education at San Diego State University. Her international teaching and scholarly accomplishments span the disciplines of language minority education policy analysis, Spanish/English biliteracy, teacher education and curriculum and instruction. Her CLAD Website received the California Association for Bilingual Education 2002 Award for Research & Scholarly Activities.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn - Denton, 1434 Centre Place, Denton, TX 76205. Please call 940.383.4100 to make a reservation. To receive the special discounted rate of $89 (includes a full hot breakfast), please mention you are part of the Texas Woman’s University Reading Recovery® Summer Institute. The room block will be held until Wednesday, June 11. After that date reservations will be accepted on a space available basis only.

Location
The 2008 Biliteracy Summer Institute will be held on the TWU Denton Campus.

Registration Information
The early bird fee is $240 for the Summer Institute. After June 5, the fee increases to $260. The registration fee includes a notebook of handouts, refreshment breaks and 2 lunches. Groups of 10 or more from the same district will receive a discount of 15%. All registrations and payments must be submitted together to receive the discount.
Note: Purchase orders must have a complete billing address and contact name.

Register Online (Must provide credit card information or purchase order number. Purchase order must be faxed to 940.898.3416 within ten business days.)

Refund/Cancellation Policy
Registrants who find it necessary to cancel will receive a refund, less a $20 processing fee. To receive a refund, you must submit written notification seven days prior to the event start date (fax to 940.898.3416). Substitutions may be made at any time. Refunds will not be issued once the event starts. The Office of Lifelong Learning reserves the right to cancel this event if sufficient enrollment is not met. In doing so, Texas Woman’s University’s liability is limited to the registration fee.
