Highlights

Gran Competencia
Concert quality folklorico choreography may be sent to Stephen Pense, P. O. Box 425649, Office of Lifelong Learning, Texas Woman’s University, Denton, Texas 76204 for pre-adjudication. Submissions may be in either VHS or DVD format. Submission deadline is June 1. Selected works will be presented in concert each evening with the winners of the Competencia performing in the gala concert on Saturday evening of the festival.

World Premiere
A composition commissioned from Ernesto García de León for the 2008 festival will be premiered Friday, July 18 in a concert featuring the work of Mr. de León. It will be premiered with choreographed dance in the gala concert on Saturday, July 19.

Performance Auditions for World Premiere
College, high school and professional dance performers are invited to audition for the commissioned dance work by Elisa de la Rosa to be premiered at the gala concert on July 19. For adjudication guidelines and submission form, click here.

Auditions: Tuesday, July 15, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., DGL Building, Studio 210.

Art Exhibition
Work by Texas Latina artists will be on display at the Texas Woman’s University Fine Arts Building throughout the festival. A free public reception (sponsored by the TWU Department of Visual Arts and the Denton Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) to meet the artists will be held on Saturday afternoon, July 19.
