Reading Recovery® Institute | November 10 - 11, 2008
The Reading Recovery® Institute is designed for trained and in-training Reading Recovery and Descubriendo la Lectura teachers, teacher leaders, and trainers. The purpose is to provide in-depth study of issues related to Reading Recovery teaching and training.
Early Literacy Institute | November 11 - 12, 2008
The Early Literacy Institute is designed for all persons interested in early literacy and intervention programs for children who find the path to literacy difficult — classroom teachers, literacy coaches, administrators, Reading Recovery teachers and teacher leaders, school support personnel, university faculty and students, parents, policy makers, and community members.
Administrators Institute | November 11, 2008
The Institute for administrators is designed to support early literacy, early literacy intervention, and the implementation of Reading Recovery and Descubriendo la Lectura in schools and systems. The Institute will feature sessions for school-level administrators and central-level administrators.

Reading Recovery Keynote Speaker
Mary D. Fried, Trainer, Reading Recovery Center, The Ohio State University
Mary Fried is a trainer at The Ohio State University Reading Recovery Center. She received her Reading Recovery training from Dr. Marie Clay and Barbara Watson as part of the 1984-85 pilot project and has continued to work training teachers, teacher leaders and trainers since that time. Formerly, Mary Fried was an elementary classroom teacher, a reading specialist, and a reading coordinator for the Columbus, Ohio public schools. She has also worked as a trainer for the Primary Literacy Collaborative Project at The Ohio State University.

Keynote Speaker for All Participants
Linda Hoyt, Consultant / Author, Lake Oswego, Oregon
Linda Hoyt has many years of experience teaching in elementary classrooms. She has worked as a reading specialist, a staff developer, a curriculum specialist, and a Title I coordinator. Her special love is creating environments where children engage as active participants in the learning process. She is the author of Spotlight on Comprehension: Building a Literacy of Thoughtfulness, Make It Real: Strategies for Success with Informational Texts, and several other books that support quality instructional strategies.

Keynote Speaker for Administrators Institute
Matt Glover, Principal and Author, Cincinnati, Ohio
Matt Glover is the co-author with Katie Wood Ray of Already Ready: Nurturing Writers in Preschool and Kindergarten. He is the principal of Creekside Early Childhood School, a school of over 900 preschool, kindergarten and first grade students located just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. Matt is a frequent presenter at conferences and in school districts on topics related to early writing and children’s intellectual growth.
